Work Truck 2003 Ford F250, Super Duty - I service standby generator systems for hospitals and police depts.  Equipped with Kenwood TS480SAR HF rig and Hamstick antenna, I operate CW only.

Top view of center console in my Buick.  This shows how everything is mounted to the center console. Nothing is drilled or mounted in the dash of the car.

Side view of the center console. Showing how everything is mounted to it.

HamStick Mounted

Coil Top Closeup

Coil Closeup

Showing how antenna is mounted to the vehicle.   Using 2" aluminum angle, the mount is attached to the underside of the vehicle.  Cheaper then buying a hitch, cost was $20.00

Close-up view of matching coil.
The coil is made up of 8 turns of #10 gauge copper wire, the center insulating device that supports the top is the PLASTIC spool the wire came on cut to fit the coil and support the coil structure.

Close-up view of coil and mount.
You can see the tapping clip used to select the match when changing ham sticks, this allows me to set the match for different bands, and broader bandwidths.

Coil Closeup 2

View from operators’ position.
I operate CW while driving, and from the position of the key level with the arm rest, it is very comfortable for me to send upwards 50 wpm while driving.

Another close-up of the top of the coil.
Here you can see where I cut my own pieces of plex-i-glass in strips to create the coil form. After insertion of the coil in the strips, I used a glue stick, and hot glue gun to affix the wire in the strips.
