These photos are a reflection of the progress being made
with the new radio room (Shack). Little history, this originally was a
1 stall attached garage, which we have converted into a 16 x 24 foor
Radio Room. All work is being completed by my wife and I. Once it
is complete, it will not only funciton as the new Shack, but also a
complete 5 station contest operation with room for meetings and
training classes as well. Hope you enjoy the photos. Click on any
photo for a closer look. 73 - K0RU - Rob

the rest of the house levels.
|
View of the entrance into main portion of the
house, notice the 10 inch raised flooring which allowed for plenty of room
to run cables, wiring etc. |
The new dedicated 100 Amp Electrical
Service installed and ready to be wired to the outlets. Each station
will have a Quad-Receptical wired to a dedicated 20 Amp Circuit
Breaker. 5 dedicated 30 Amp 240 VAC outlets have been installed to
allow for up to 5 each Full Legal Limit Amplifiers to be
operating simultaneously. |
The drywall process has begun. |
Here you can see the rooms A/C and Heat
Pump unit. This allows me to keep the room at a controlled
temperature seperate from the rest of the house. |
That's me (Rob) spraying the textured
finish onto the ceiling and walls. |
This is my XYL (wife) Julie, she does
all the detailed work on the mudding and taping. This is a
team project. |
Construction of the radio desk.
The desk is an L-Shape and will provide room for 5 complete stations once
completed. |
Here is a view of the frame work for one
station, the cut out in the top is to allow for a TILTING plateform which
the radios will set on that will tilt the face of the radios upward to the
operator for an easy viewing angle. |
Here the main operating position is
completed for Station #1. |
Here you can see the 120V receptical and
J-Box for the CAT5 network wiring which will be located at each of the
operating positions. |
Showing the tilting angle of the desktop
where the radio's will sit. |
Station #1 complete, showing the tilting
angle and view of the front of the radio's. This keeps the monitors
at a low position helping reduce the tilting of the head during
operation. |
View of some of the rest of the room. |
This is me at Station #1 operating
position and you can now see how everything is layed out. |
